Magnetic Lift Assist for Unloading Steel Plates from Plasma Tables
Problem: The customer had thousands of different parts run on their current plasma table. The part cutouts were typically anywhere from 50 pounds to 200 pounds, and it was becoming challenging for their operators to lift these safely. The current crane could lift the raw sheets on, but it was too slow to unload the table.
Steel Plate Lift Solution: Ergonomic Partners designed a custom tool with a male/female receiver to allow for the quick change of different air actuated magnet heads. The tools took roughly 30 seconds to change out, and allowed the operators to pick odd shaped parts. The magnets were on adjustable mounts giving further flexibility when it comes to challenging parts.
End Result: The operators no longer had to climb up on tables, drag parts off tables, or bend over to load a pallet. The ergonomic results left the operator feeling more energized at the end of the day, and reduce the risk of injury.
